Two generations. One standard of work.

M.G. Wilson Electrical was founded in Hexham in 2014 by Matthew Wilson, an electrician with a simple conviction: that domestic electrical work could be done to a higher standard than people had come to expect. Cleaner. Better planned. Properly certificated. Explained in plain English.

In 2019 his father joined the firm as a director, bringing decades of experience on the tools. Between them, the Wilsons carry 35 years of combined experience, and the kind of accountability you only get when the family name is on the van.

Today we split our time between the work every home needs, rewires, testing, EICRs and lighting, and the renewable work the North East is crying out for: solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers and off grid systems.

Built steadily, the family way

  1. 2014

    The firm is founded

    Matthew Wilson establishes M.G. Wilson Electrical in Hexham, building a reputation job by job for clean, careful domestic work.

  2. 2019

    Father joins son

    Wilson senior comes aboard as director, doubling the firm's hands on experience and making it a true family business.

  3. 2023

    Into renewables

    Solar PV, battery storage and EV charging become a core part of the business, backed by manufacturer training.

  4. Today

    Hexham & the North East

    Working from Unit 7, Foundry Industrial Estate, from single room jobs to whole home automation across the region.
