These terms and conditions apply to all work carried out by M.G. Wilson Electrical Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England & Wales under company number 08895597, VAT number 297623264, with its registered office at Unit 7, Foundry Industrial Estate, Hexham, Northumberland NE46 4JH.
You can contact us by phone on 07881 207614 or by email at info@mgwilsonelectricalltd.co.uk. By accepting a quotation or instructing us to carry out work, you agree to these terms.
Written quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. A quotation covers only the work described in it; any additional work you request, or work made necessary by conditions we could not reasonably have discovered before starting (for example concealed wiring defects), will be quoted separately before we proceed.
Estimates are our best assessment of likely cost and are not a fixed price. We will tell you clearly whether a figure is a quotation or an estimate.
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, invoices are payable within 14 days of the invoice date. For larger projects we may agree staged payments in advance, set out in the quotation. We may charge a deposit for work requiring materials to be ordered specially.
If an invoice is overdue we may charge statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 (business customers) or at 4% above the Bank of England base rate (consumers), and suspend further work until payment is received. Materials remain our property until paid for in full.
If you are a consumer and the contract was made at your home, by phone or online (an "off premises" or "distance" contract), you have the right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason, starting the day after the contract is made.
To exercise this right, tell us in writing (email is fine) within the cancellation period. If you ask us to start work within the 14 days and then cancel, you must pay for the work done up to cancellation. The right to cancel is lost once the work has been completed with your agreement.
Urgent safety work you ask us to carry out immediately is exempt from the cooling off period to the extent of that urgent work.
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, in accordance with BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) and applicable Building Regulations, and will provide the appropriate certification on completion. We are certified through NAPIT for the self certification of notifiable domestic electrical work.
You agree to give us reasonable access to the property at the agreed times and to tell us about anything relevant to the work that you are aware of (for example the location of concealed pipes or asbestos). Dates and durations we give are made in good faith; we will keep you informed promptly if they need to change.
We will protect work areas, keep disruption to a minimum and remove our waste. Where chases, floorboards or finishes must be disturbed, we will make good to a reasonable standard, but redecoration is not included unless expressly stated in the quotation.
Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. Materials and equipment carry the manufacturer's warranty, which we will pass on to you. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for services to be performed with reasonable care and skill.
The guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, alteration by others, or fair wear and tear.
We hold public liability insurance. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable to both parties when the contract was made, losses not caused by our breach, or (for business customers) loss of profit, business or opportunity. Our total liability in respect of any project is limited to the greater of the price paid for that project and the amount recoverable under our insurance.
If something isn't right, tell us, call 07881 207614 or email info@mgwilsonelectricalltd.co.uk and we will aim to acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and resolve it promptly. If we cannot resolve a dispute between us, you may be able to use alternative dispute resolution; as a NAPIT certified business, complaints about notifiable work may also be raised through our certification scheme.
These terms, together with the quotation, form the whole agreement between us. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force when you accept a quotation is the one that applies to that work.
These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
