1. Who we are

M.G. Wilson Electrical Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are registered in England & Wales, company number 08895597, VAT number 297623264, registered office Unit 7, Foundry Industrial Estate, Hexham, Northumberland NE46 4JH. 2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to respond to you and do our job:

Contact details, name, phone number, email address and property address, when you enquire, request a quote or become a customer.
Job details, information about your property and the work requested, including photographs of installations where relevant.
Payment records, invoices and payment history (we do not store card details).
Website usage, limited technical data via cookies, only with your consent (see section 7).

3. Why we use it, and our lawful bases

Responding to enquiries and providing quotes, steps taken at your request before entering a contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Carrying out and certifying work, invoicing, performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)), e.g. certification records.
Keeping accounting records, legal obligation; HMRC requires records to be kept for 6 years.
Reminding you when certificates (e.g. EICRs) are due, legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)); you can opt out at any time.
Analytics cookies, consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time via cookie preferences.

4. Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with: our certification body (NAPIT) where required to register notifiable work; our accountant and HMRC for tax purposes; suppliers where a manufacturer warranty must be registered in your name; and IT providers who host our email and records (bound by data processing agreements).

We do not transfer your data outside the UK except where a provider stores data in the EEA or a country covered by UK adequacy regulations.

5. How long we keep it

Enquiry details that don't lead to work: up to 12 months. Customer, job and certification records: 6 years from the end of the tax year they relate to (and for the life of any guarantee if longer). Electrical certificates may be retained longer as a safety record of the installation.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
have inaccurate data corrected, and (in some circumstances) erased;
restrict or object to processing, including any direct marketing;
data portability, where processing is based on consent or contract;
withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis.

To exercise any of these rights, contact info@mgwilsonelectricalltd.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.

7. Cookies

This site uses strictly necessary cookies (to make the site function and remember your cookie choice) and, only with your consent, analytics cookies (to understand how the site is used) and marketing cookies. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off; everything else is off by default until you opt in.

Your choice is stored on your device for 12 months, after which we will ask again.
